I had a pap test come back with abnormal cells and my gyn also found a polyp which originally he thought was on the cervix. I went for a recheck and he checked my uterine lining which is 10 ml thick. Now he thinks the polyp is probably from the uterus which prolapsed to the cervix. I am going to see a gyn/onocologist Your thoughts?
Polyps in the cervix and uterus are very common. Irrespective of where they come from, the treatment is removal.
As of now, it is best to get a Dilatation and Curettage [ D and C ] or a hysteroscopy for removal of polyp as well as a curetting of the endometrium [ uterine lining]. The samples then will be sent for examination under a microscope and further management will be decided upon the report.
So do not worry. They are common and easily removed and treated.
