Hi, My baby was given the BCG vaccine soon after birth. Now she has completed 3months on 24th Mar 2011. Today 29th March the red lump on her left arm busted. At first pus oozed out and then a little blood. BCG vaccine is anti TB, now that the boil has busted will be baby have any effects of TB or has the vaccine done its job. what should i do about the boil now?
a follow-up consultation with your baby's pediatrician would be of great help. depending on his/her assessment, a referal to a general or a pediatric surgeon will be directed accordingly. antibiotic treatment might be given if the wound is infected. otherwise, just let the wound resolve spontaneously.
hope this helps.
good day!!
