Hi, i am having acute watery diarrhoea since 2 days, i have taken lemofen, lopramide, racecadotril , ORS but nothing is helping. Diarrhoea still persists and watery. The night it started frequency of stools were 6 times in 12 hours now it has reduced to 2. plz give me some advice.
HI... I think its better to take a course of antibiotics preferably combination of ornidazole with ofloxacin or ciprofloxacin with tinidazole. Antimotility agents such as loperamide are better avoided in in infective diarrhea since 90% of acute diarrhea is caused by infection. you can also take sporolac which contains normal gut bacteria which improves gut immunity. If your diarrhea persists even after antibiotics it would be advisable to get stool examination done.
