Hello
Your husband's blood pressure is above the normal of 130/80. It is possible that he ate fast food (as you mention) and it had a lot of salt and that increased the blood pressure temporarily.
Stress is another factor that tends to increase blood pressure.
To maintain a normal blood pressure it is important to:
1) consume many fruits and vegetables (about 6 to 7 servings daily).
2) maintain ideal body weight within normal parameters, BMI less than 25
3)exercise about 30 minutes almost every day
4)consume low amount of salt/sodium (no more than 2 grams/day)
5)consume low amount of fatty foods
If the blood pressure is consistently (2 separate readings on separate days while the patient is relaxed) above 130/80, medications are necessary to prevent complications of
high blood pressure, which include headache,
enlarged heart,
stroke and heart attack
Best regards
