Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother is 85 years old. She is suffering from Osteoporosis disease since last 5 years and it is in advance stage. She is getting too much pain for slight body movement. Pl. help for better solution for pain and cure. She has been taking Sodium Alendronate & Calcium supliments.
Hi, osteoporosis in late stages can lead to bone pain due to reduced bone mineral density. Alendronate, also has certain anti pain effect. If hormonal therapy was not tried, it can be tried to improve further bone mineral density. Improved nutrition particularly more protein and physiotherapy to improve muscle mass can reduce pain. Staying agile and moving around is important to reduce pain. To avoid risk of fractures, make her surroundings elder friendly. Hope I have answered your query. Any further queries, happy to help.
