What Is The Treatment For Chest Attacks That Need Pumping To Increase Heartbeat?
Hello my wife suffers from chronic hey fever and has asthma. We are not sure what triggers what but she takes antihestimane daily but recently she gets really bad attacks which close her chest and she has to use the pump often in the day which increases her heart rate.
Hi Thanks for your query. I think your wife are using short acting bronchodialator like salbutamol or levosalbutamol too frequently that is causing increased heart rate. That indirectly indicates that her asthma symptoms are not controlled. For which you need to revisit your pulmonologist for proper assessment of asthma symptoms, going for spirometric measurement of severity of airflow limitation and subsequently proper adjustment of doses of long acting bronchodialators and inhaled corticosteroids so that frequency of using salbutamol or levosalbutamol is decreased. Therefore you must consult a pulmonologist soon. Thank you. Regards, Dr Arnab Maji
