hi,,my husband is diabetic and when his blood sugar is high for a few days he gets very dry skin on the part of skin that shows after the head of the penis goes in.that part also gets splits on the edges around the skin.he also gets a very thick white substance..he says it does not itch or hurt.the slits look like what you would get when your fingers crack.
Diabetes causes abundant urination and as a result the person becomes dehydrated. When a person is dehydrated, the skin as well is affected.
Moreover, with diabetes, skin infections are possible. Diabetes affects nerves and vessels that supply the periphery, skin, lower extremities etc. and the symptoms you are listing are thus possible complications of diabetes.
Diabetes is not treated but controlled with drugs. he has to take his medications regularly and constantly and monitor his blood sugar levels to ensure that it is being controlled.
He needs to drink much water, do exercises, and reduce weight if he is over weight or obese.
Best regards Dr Achuo
