Hi My mother has been unable to go to the loo for over a year and it s passing water very often either but when she does there is also a lot of blood in her urine. , her stomach is extremely swollen and the last 2 months is also having pains in the lower part of het chest. She s been back and forth the doctors they referred her to a urologist but the test came back fine about 9mths ago, about 3 months ago they told het she had diverticular disease and prescribed a course of laxatives but this hasn t made any difference. She s reluctant to go back to the doctors as they don t let her explain everything and only want to discuss one thing per session and she feels they are related and that the doctor doesnt belive her. I m concerned she is still suffering, more recently she s become very tired and has no energy which is unlike her. she won t go back to the doctors and worried about what further damage is being done.
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. DIetary changes are most important. Hugh-fiber diet may not prevent diverticulosis, it may help prevent symptoms or problems in people who already have diverticulosis. I can also suggest to take a fiber product such as methylcellulose (Citrucel) or psyllium (Metamucil) one to three times a day.Probiotics ma also be beneficial and she should take more fluids to soften her stool. In severe cases surgery ma be recommended, but only if these conservative measures arent successful.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
