What Is The Treatment For Exercise Induced Asthma And Endometriosis?

I am a 30 year old woman who is generally very active and healthy. My only prior health issues are exercise induced asthma and endometriosis. I previously had about 5 concussions in my life one was documented in 1994 and 4 were undocumented between 2002 and2006. I sustained multiple concussions on Nov 27 2011 and Dec 4 2011. I will outline each injury for you. one thing you should know is I am a soccer goalie and all injuries occurred while playing soccer. Injury 1 Nov 27 during a corner I received an elbow to the right side of my head and felt dizzy afterwards. I did not lose consciousness. Injury 2 Nov 27 during the same game I dove for the ball and hit the right side of my head on the floor. I did feel dizzy again but continued to stay in the game. When I went home I felt nauseas and immediately fell asleep. In the coming days I was very irritable, confused and had difficulties with my memory. I thought I may have had a mild concussion but didn t think too much of it. The following Sunday I was feeling a bit better so I went to soccer again. Injury 3 Dec 4 I dove for a ball and another player kicked me in the right side of the head by accident. I felt a very sharp pain and vision was blurry for a few minutes. I sat down for a few minutes and my vision returned to normal so I continued to play. Injury 4 Dec 4 During the 2nd half of the game I charged towards a girl and ran full force with my forehead into her shoulder and was knocked unconscious for about 5 seconds. I then fell backwards and hit the back of my head on the floor. I do not remember any of injury 4 only what people have told me. All I knew when I woke up was to ask if I made the save. At this point I sat out of the rest of the game. The next day at work I was unable to do my job, was very angry, could not remember anything immediate or short term so I left work and went to the hospital. The ER DR said I had suffered 4 serious concussions in a matter of 1 week time period. My ongoing symptoms of memory loss, irritability, being overly emotional, easily confused and sometimes forget what I am speaking about, steady headaches and frequent sharp stabbing pains are persistent. I am also always very tired but have trouble sleeping. I am still waiting for an appointment with a neurosurgeon. My question is does it sound like I have Post concussion syndrome, Secondary impact syndrome or CTE. My GP has mentioned all of these as possibilities. Also does it sound like I will have permanent brain damage and will I ever be able to return to sports?

Hello,

You have a history of concussions. Every time you had a trauma on the right side and then at the back of the head. Possibility may be that you have post concussion syndrome. Asthma, endometriosis, vision problems, memory problems are treatable. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist for endometriosis. It can be treated with medicines if the symptoms and pathology is not severe. You may need a surgery if the symptoms are severe.

Avoid anxiety, stress (physical and emotional) so that you don't have asthma attacks. Avoid places of air pollution, dust, smokes, animal dander, etc. You may need immuno-therapy. Get clinically examined by a Neurologist, get Nerve conduction tests done. Get Imaging tests (CT, MRI, X-Ray, EEG, etc) done. Your treatment (medicine, surgery) will depend on the severity of the pathology detected. Get tested for your vision issues by an ophthalmologist at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
