What Is The Treatment For Itching In Lower Legs That Is Not Treated By Cortisone?

I have an extreme itching in my lower legs, even to the point that I am sound asleep and will scratch my lower legs until I damage the skin. Nothing relieves this, not alcohol, or cortizone creme, or ice, or any other remedy recommended by the local pharmacy. I have scheduled a visit with my physician, but am unable to get in to see him before the 10th of February. This is driving me crazy.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

It would be hard to comment on the exact reason since you did'nt mention any skin lesion, but i would keep a possibility of Xerosis(extreme dryness).

An intensive moisturizing cream twice daily along with an OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine once daily in the evening would benefit you symptomatically.

take care
regards
