I just visited a maxilofacial surgeon, after seeing my Ct scan, he told me that I have a maxillary cyts in the left sinus + a wisdom tooth that is very very high!
Please I am really really worried. Could you please tell me what are all the possible treatments? if surgery, could it be done under a local anesthesic? (because the general anesthesic really really scares me!)
As per your query maxillary sinus retention cyst can be removed by surgical procedure under endoscopic guidance along with it a high placed wisdom tooth can also be removed surgically at the same time. The procedure can be performed under local anaesthesia but even if general anaesthesia is advised you need not to worry as it will make the surgery more easy for you and comfortable, but in case if you are not at ease the surgery can be performed under local anaesthesia.. You can consult your Oral Surgeon and he can remove the cyst as well as the wisdom tooth in the same sitting..
As of now you can do steam inhalations and saline irrigations as it will help in keeping the nasal passage open and ease in the surgery too..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
