What Is The Treatment For Mucous In The Throat And Nose?
my mom is 90 years old and has been very ill for a year. She now has started to have thick white mucus in her throat and nose. She also makes a sound like a whistle when she breaths. Not sure what is going one she has colostomy and bowel cancer. Can you tell me what to do to help this mucus problem or at least what is happening to her now?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have mucous in the throat and nose which is due to inflammation in the sinus or nasal lining. Need not to worry much and you should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated. Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room. You should sleep with head slightly raised so that the sinus can easily clear off. You should take antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin along with anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and decongestant nasal sprays. you should take mucolytics like Ambroxol. Saline nasal spray can help in loosening the mucous and easy draining.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
