Hi, Welcome to HCM, your Daughter's symptoms suggest that she has Rheumatic Fever Disease. It happens , when the body responds in a different way after some bacterial infections of throat or Tonsils. Your doctor has done correctly by starting Antibiotics. By giving prophylactic antibiotics, he wants to prevent your daughter's heart. He may ask you to continue for 5-10 years also, depending on several factors. Your daughter will also be given advise that any time in future if she has to go for even minor surgery, she must get prophylcatic antibiotics. i am sure your doctor will explain you it in detail. Do not get worried, by taking few precautions, your daughter will have long, healthy and hearty life ahead. Dr H Hamdani
