What Is The Treatment For Reactive Arthritis?

hi, i'm 30 years old woman. i had been suffering from cox and am still on medication for 3 months. nothing was wrong with my chest x-ray. it was based on mantoux test. my esr rate was also very high. now after blood test, everything is normal. i have been gaining weight. before being infected, my weight was normal. i was diagnosed with reactive arthritis and the cause was due to cox. now my question is should i continue to take the medicine because i have started taking only one tablet from the third month. two months i had been taking three tablets. after that it was changed to one tablet per day. my health is fine except that i'm unable to bend my legs to the fullest extent. blood test for arthritis is also within normal range.

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us,

I have studied your case with diligence.

A treatment regimen for Reactive arthritis involves medication, exercise, good posture practices, and other treatment options such as applying heat/cold to help relax muscles and reduce joint pain
NSAIDs, DMARDs (disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs) are sometimes prescribed in more severe cases. These include methotrexate and sulfasalazine. a newer class of biologic medication.

Exercise is essential. Exercise helps keep the muscles strong around a joint. Not using a sore joint will cause the muscles to become weak, thus resulting in more pain

You may need to continue medicine for couple of month.Consult your doctor before stopping any medication.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
