Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had Crohn s disease since 2006. I have been in remission for a while until 2 months ago. I just recently had a flare in my rectum along with a fissure. I was on a 8 week course of flagyl and continue to get low grade fevers after I eat. I also have pain after I eat near my belly button. These symptoms have been going on for about 2 1/2 months now. I also get remicade every 7 weeks. I was just put on a medrol dose pack due to joint pain and stiffness. My GI just performed a sigmoidoscopy and said the fissure has closed and said to stop the antibiotics. After stopping the antibiotics I m starting to have rectal pAin again and all other symptoms are still there. Could there be a flare farther up in my colon. I also had 1 foot of colon removed in 2006 due to being 95% blocked.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if the fissure condition then it need particular surgical treatment and without this it can not be cured, and if it is not being treated in that way then it is better to go for surgery and the rectal pain could be due to this only, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
