Hi I am so hoping you can give me an answer to the most painful condition I personally have ever experienced. I have a severe case of shingles. It started June 10,2014 and while the blisters have cleared up , the burning is so severe it s making me nauseous and I can t eat. I ve seen a Dr who prescribed Hydrocodone 7.5 ml which didn t help at all and now wants to do an injection in my spine (sorry not sure what it s actually called) to deaden the nerves to stop the pain. At this point, I m in so much pain I ll try anything! I m just so worried it won t work and I m having it done tomorrow ...just need to know it ll work???Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Hi, After reading your query it appears that your husband too might have developed Post herpetic neuralgia. It is quite painful condition. It would be better for you to consult a doctor for the best advise.
The very first and important information to provide you is that - shingles occurs only one time in life. It begins as multiple blisters on one side of body and specifically at one region only. The blisters remain for a period of around 7-14 days and then forms scab which falls off in next 2 weeks so you should not be worried abut teh same as it occurs only for once in life time.

What Is The Treatment For Severe Shingles?

In my patients I use Amitriptyline in proper dosage in combination with Gabapentin and Vitamin B12. Consult your doctor for the same. Wish you good health
