What Is The Treatment For Sinus And Ear Infection?

2 1/2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with a sinus and ear infection and put on an antibiotic (I can t remember which one, I just know that it was NOT Amoxicilian since the Dr spoke about how ineffective Amoxicilian is in treating sinus infections). I took the antibiotic as prescribed for 10 days. My sinuses cleared, but I still felt like my ear was a bit clogged and the tube still itched from time to time. Now, my ear still feels stuffy, but I have severe pain just below what would be called my adam s apple. I have slight pain that runs up my throat from there. My throat is tight and I have a very dry cough that generates from my neck and just the very top of my chest. The few times when I have cleared my throat and been able to loosen some of the congestion, green phlegm comes up. Since I have been on antibiotics twice in the last 2 months, what do I need to do? What could make me hurt so badly just below my adam s apple?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

I think you need to get following to be done to have proper treatment for greenish cough:

1. Sputum examined for culture and sensitivity
2. Blood count
3. Chest X-ray
4. Audiometry - PTA & Impedance.

Please have all this and get proper treatment or come to this platform.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
