What Is The Treatment For Stomach Flu And Fever?

My son is 19 months old. He is just getting over an illness. Doctor say from the syptoms it sounds like the stomach flu. He has been sick for 5 days. He has been vomiting, had a low grade fever, and very irriatable. He seemed to be getting back to normal today. His fever broke yesterday and we have not had vomiting in about 24 hours. He is still a little fussy, but not nearly as much. Today I thought we were finally getting over this and notice this rash. I first seen it last night. It started out on his lower back. It has spread quite a bit since then. Now it is all over his back and stomach and neck. It is a blotchy red rash, that is completly flat. It does seem to bother him, but it scares me. The doctors office is now closed. Could this just be a part of the illness or is this something that I should be concerned about? Please help.

Hi,

This looks like this rash is related to his primary disease. many viral infections do cause initially fever and flue latter on developing rash.

Though its not of great concern but I would advise you should see the Dr (ER if possible) just to see the rash and plan ahead as he may need isolation for few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
