What Is The Treatment For The Perforations In The Tympanic Membranes?

Sir, I m sending the primary diagonisis. pl suggest whether my daughter can safely treated without sacrificing hearing ability. Also suggest place of treatment. there are quite big perforations in the tympanic membranes of both ear, it is obvious that she has to undergo surgery. The perforation of right ear seems smaller than the left ear and it has involved the membranous part little. So ear saving procedures like tympanoplasty may be done there. As for the left ear I think the matter is worse. Canal wall down procedure (more destructive surgery) may be necessary. Or more ear saving procedures like canal wall up procedures may be done risking the safety mergin.

Hi,

Noted the details you have well mentioned about your daughter. Since you have not mentioned the age of your daughter it is difficult to advise as per age.
Anyway, since there are perforations of both ears, there will be a necessity of surgery for sure once your ENT Surgeon examines and decides as per the clinical findings, investigations of Audiometry, CT scan of mastoids as necessary.
Hence the decisions depend entirely upon the opinion of the ENT Surgeon.
Surely go ahead with surgery as and when advised.
Till then ask your daughter the following:
Not to blow the nose.
Use Nasal decongestant drops to keep the clear Eustachian tubes.
Avoid cold and viral the way it is possible.

I hope this answer helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. T Chandrakant,
