But once these episodes become frequent and recurrent, generally tonsillectomy is the only treatment. a lot however depends on a person s age. For many people, tonsils and adenoids regress after puberty and the episodes become less frequent. However, for adults, there is less chance of spontaneous regression and tonsillectomy is the preferred treatment.
