What Is The Use Of Fertigyn Injections While Spotting During Pregnancy?
Hi doctor, I am 35 years old & at the 19th week of pregnency. My ultrasound scan report says everything as normal. But yesterday I found some spotting & my doctor advised me to take fertigyn hp 5000 injection once. May I know what for this injection is? And how long should I take this injection? Do you foresee any complications/problems in my pregnency?
Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Fertigyn HP contains B HCG hormone. It is a pregnancy supportive hormone. It indirectly stimulates the secretion of progesterone from the pituitary. As you are having spotting, there is a risk of miscarriage in this pregnancy. In order to reduce your chances of miscarriage, it is desirable to give pregnancy supportive hormones. Progesterone quietens uterine contractions and relaxes the uterus. You can continue taking it till the third trimester. There is no side effect. If you wish to avoid injections, you can take progesterone supplements. These can be given orally or vaginally as inserts. They are more patient friendly IF the ultrasound is normal, no problems are likely. Take rest, avoid intercourse and jerky travelling. All the best. Take care.
