What Is The Yellow Goop In The Corner Of The Eyes After Vaccination For A 6 Month Old?

6 month old just vaccines on Wednesday. Since Then he has been having a low grade fever 99.3. He has been congested for the past few days it gets worse at night. Today he Woke Up From His Nap With Yellow Goop In The corner of his eyes. Is he sick or is this a normal reaction ?

Hello. Thank you for your question. It is not likely that your son's symptoms are due to the vaccines. His history of congestion for the past few days indicates that he probably has a viral illness. Eye symptoms like the ones you describe are commonly seen in combination with viral upper respiratory infections. The task is to keep the eye clean so that it does not become susceptible to bacterial infection. If in doubt, or if the symptoms worsen over the next 2-3 days, I recommend consulting with your doctor.
