What Is Your Opinion About Having Resting Blood Pressure Of 150/50?
My resting blood pressure was 150/50 at the doctors office a couple of days ago. The nurse just shrugged her shoulders when I asked about the BP. I just read online that it is impossible to have 150/50 resting but I did? What would be your concerns if any or your thoughts on this?
Hi and welcome to HCM. You should have mentioned your age. Normal BP is 120/80 mm Hg and till 140/90 its normal. Blood pressure varies at different times in a day. It will be low in morning hours and by evening some people show a spike in their Blood pressure. One reading of high BP will not diagnose you as hypertensive, atleast 3 to 4 readings a week apart and taken at different times in a day is essential. I suggest you to monitor your blood pressure for a week in your home, if its not possible go to a clinic and check your BP for a week. If it consistently shows high BP then you may have to take anti hypertensive medications. Also cut down salt in your diet, do physical exercises, practice meditation. All the best Regards Dr Santosh
