What Is Your Opinion About Taking Synthroid 150mcg Daily When TSH Levels Is 0.01?

My doctor & I have been trying for months to regulate my Synthroid dosage. I have been taking 137 mcg on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, & 150 mcg on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays. My blood level for my TSH yesterday was 0.01.... My doctor prescribed me 150 mcg daily starting today. I feel that it is still too high of a dosage. I would like to know your professional opinion. I have constant hot flashes.

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi Dear,

TSH may take weeks to months to normalize. However, it is strange that your dosage has been increased. Ideally, the dose should be reduced if TSH is suppressed. You must discuss with your endocrinologist.

What was the type of Hypothyroidism ( Primary or secondary?). If your hypothyroidism is due to a pituitary condition, then your TSH will remain low anyway. Hence you need an endocrine consultation
