any exercise is ok if it is not painful. Some will tell patients with abdominal hernias to avoid things like sit ups , crunches, movements that increase intra abdominal pressure. In reality we increase our abdominal pressure doing normal lifestyle activities such as having a bowel movement, so exercise should not harm this. If you notice the bulge/hernia sticks out and wont go back in, becomes very painful, tender, stop that exercise, and if does not improve seek medical attention.
