What Leads To Blurred Vision And Dizziness Despite Taking Metroprolol For BP?

My son, age 39, is having intermittant attacks of blurred vision and feeling faint. His blood pressure is fine with daily dose of metroprolol, 25 mg, at night. He is under stress a lot. Blood sugar is 110. He is in process of a physical. Do you think he is in immediate danger.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hi,

Intermittent attacks of blurred vision and dizziness may be present in the following conditions
1) Migraine
2) Tension headache
3) Stroke
4) Left heart failure
5) Severe anxiety and stress
6) Concussion injury of brain
7) Very low blood sugar levels
8) Vertigo
9) Alcohol

I can't say if he is in any immediate danger but it's always better to get evaluated by a doctor and to find the specific cause of the symptoms for an appropriate and prompt treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
