Hello,
You are having discharge from the corner of the left eye. Both the eyes are crusty and itch. You wear
contact lens. You are 57 and post menopausal. The discharge commonly occurs due to
eye infection, foreign body in the eye,
eye injury, rubbing eyes with dirty hands, etc. There is no treatment for viral eye infections. This type of infection often goes away within 2 to 3 weeks.
You can apply
steroid eye drops for relief of
eye inflammation and itching. You are suggested to wash your contact lens and disinfect it after every use. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the surface of your eye or removing or putting on your contact lenses. To avoid eye infection do not share your spects / eye glasses, contact lens, sunglasses, etc., with anyone.
You can take antihistamine at bed time for 3-5 days. Stay away from addictions if any. Avoid eye makeup for a couple of days. Your symptoms should reduce. If not, get clinically examined by an Eye specialist. Get treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
