I ve been painting fainting for the last 5 years, in the last 3 months it has become daily, if I laugh, stand for more than 15 to 20 minutes, mentally stable, but my body is extremely tired and exhausted, dizzy aways even when lying down. my doctor is trying to set up an appointment with a neurologist at UIC, its not happening soon enough, so I called and they told me it would be awhile before they could take me, in the meantime I m scared exhausted tired and I recently had radio surgery for an AVM on the left side of my brain February 12th of this year. I ve called different hospitals I ve been to many hospitals where I fainted right in front of them and still they let me leave. I m reaching out to everyone I could possibly can for help. I m only scared for myself I m scared for my children who are so used to picking me up and putting me back to bed I need help stat,6 years ago I worked recovery as a patient care technician medical assistant CPR certified in all, now I lying in bed praying that someone we ll figure out what s happening to me before it s too late. thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are suffering from dizziness, fainting attacks, feel extremely tired and exhausted. Good to know that you have worked as a patient care medical assistant CPR. Stay strong you will get well. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a cardiologist and get Lipid function test, blood works, urinalysis, blood sugar (F and PP), echo, EKG, stress tests done. Your symptoms may be suggestive of developing CAD, coronary heart disease.

Heart ailments do cause tiredness and exhaustion. You should get a CT head done to rule out any developing pathology in the brain that can cause such symptoms. Also get Nerve conduction velocity tests done to rule out any developing neurological problem. Other medical conditions that can cause similar symptoms are thyroid dysfunction (T3, T4, TSH), middle ear problems (vertigo), anemia, poor general health condition, stress (physical and emotional), etc.

Stay away from addictions if any. Take nutritious food in proper time, do not skip meals. Take adequate water and fluids needed for your body. You can take supplements if needed. Take not less than 8 hours quality sleep at night. If possible take a break from work and rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
