Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My skin has gotten unusually sensitive, especially if I scratch an itch. As soon as I stop, the area gets painful and it takes over a minute for the pain to go away. There are no visible rashes or dryness. Some days are worse than others The arms and chest area are the worst.
Abnormal sensitivity of skin is caused by various conditions like exposure to sun or UV rays, exposure to allergens or irritants, dryness of skin, skin disorders or allergic skin reactions such as eczema, rosacea, or allergic contact dermatitis.
Prevent further sensitivity of skin by using of high potent deodorant cleansers have chemicals that may damage the skin. Soap-free cleansers such as mild cleansing bars and sensitive-skin bars along with most liquid facial cleansers have less potential for facial skin irritation than soaps.
Use of regular moisturizers is necessary. Prevention of sun exposure or applying a sun screen lotion with high sun protection factor. Prevention of exposure to allergens and irritants. Use of calamine lotion on skin rashes with redness and burning.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
