I am female 56. I am four foot nine. Weigh 16 and half stone. Have history of high blood pressure and on medication for same as well as cholestrol , anti allergy tablet Zirtek. Among a few others for over acidity in stomach and at times constipation. I have been to the hospital twice in the recent past for bleeding from anus and was told i produce too much acid. Anyway I had to ring my Dr on Monday as I was peeing blood on Sunday and he prescriped Augmentin 625 , he gave me 14. And now I am passing blobs of mucus and was wondering is this normal?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. The commonest causes of mucus with blood in stool are as follows: Procto-colitis. Amoebiasis. Any ulcerative lesions. Polyposis. Diverticulitis and so on. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor again for preliminary addition of Metronidazole and probiotics to see for the results. If there is no results then get a reference to a Gastroenterologist so that you can get tests of stool, blood, ultrasonography, CT scan of abdomen and most importantly ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy to know the exact cause so that an appropriate management can be done. Also watch for the foods and beverages that increase the problems and stop these altogether.
