What Leads To Thick Salivation, difficulty In Swallowing And Nausea?

Recently I returned from Mexico, 4 days later started to have pain on swallowing on the right side. I waited 5 days, it was getting worse, it was hurting to swallow just saliva. My neck was quite tender to palpation, my saliva turned very thick and I was wanting as if to vomit the foreign body from my throat. In desperation on Sat. Night I took amoxicillin 500 we had at home 3x and Advil cold. 3 days later it seemed to clear on the right side. But today I feel it all over again sourcing from as if the left, no pain this time. Really thick saliva and a feeling like a balloon in my throat . I don t want to swallow this saliva, makes me nauseous again. I still take antibiotic, no Advil. Had no fever at all, tonsils were just red and enlarged, no white streaks. I m standing by the sink miserable. Any advise, please?
