What Makes A One Year To Cry Excessively At Night?
My 1 year did not have colic as a baby but these days he s up at night for hours just crying - no amount of soothing or milk calms him. Last night I have him .8 ml of cyclopam and he has slept much better - can this be colic? Also, is it fine to give him cyclopam at night for a few days? He has milk in a bottle - how can the colic be prevented altogether?
Some children develop colic after one year and that is quite normal. You can use antispasmodic drugs as you are currently using but please do not use them for long periods as they can hamper normal bowel movements also. Instead try using some Ayurvedic preparation which are quite harmless like Bonisen by Himalyan pharmaceuticals or Caspa by Vasu.
Please look into the fact what the child eats, as children may develop colic from particular foods, try to identify the food and avoid it at night. Also please go for deworming (anti-helmenthic) drugs as it is must between one and two years.
Hope that solves your problem. Please feel free to contact in case you need any further help.
Regards, Dr. M Zahoor Bhat
