What Medication Can Be Taken Instead Of Lyrica For Fibromyalgia?

Hello, I have fibromyalgia and was given Lyrica, but it makes me drowsy all day long. My doctor has lowered the dosage but I still don t like how it makes me feel. It gives me a headache too, so I stopped it last night. I took it for about 5 days. Is that bad to stop it suddenly, and is there a medication out there I can take that will not make me feel drowsy?

Hi,

I understood your concern about the condition while taking Lyrica.

As per your query, it is bad to stop it suddenly. Abrupt withdrawal of Lyrica may cause complications.
Also, alternative medicines are available for fibromyalgia like Cymbalta, Savella etc. Please report your doctor immediately about the condition and he can prescribe you the alternative. Medicines do have side effects. Consult your doctor if you have any allergic reactions.

A rheumatologist is the Doctor concerned with the disease Fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia can be managed through moderate exercises, Do not do strenous exercise but stretch exercises, avoid stress.
Acupuncture treatments do help reduce Fibromyalgia. You can consult a physiotherapist for that.
