What Medication Is Recommended For Dehydration, Flu And Sore Throat?
My dad was just hospitalized with severe dehydration following the flu. He is now complaining at home of bad taste in his mouth and sore throat. he has been drinking Gatorade and sucking on Luden's cough drops. Is there any over the counter medicine I can recommend?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have dehydration, flu and sore throat . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to viral infection or viral pharyngitis . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day , drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test . Usually it will go away by its own in few days , but doctor may prescribe anti viral like acyclovir , anti inflammatory along with drug like sucralfate to heal throat lining in severe cases .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
