What Medication Is Suggested For Heart Flutters?

Hi, I have heart flutters a few times a week. I went to the doctors and he had me do an ekg test and a treadmill test and both were fine. I don t have any other symptoms with them and they last a couple of seconds. I m 60 years old, female and weight is 230. I also have one cup of coffee in the morning and that s it. I m having hip surgery in April and I m wondering what I should do. All blood and other tests he had me do came out fine and I don t have high blood pressure. Don t understand why I m still getting them. Thank You

Hi and welcome to HCM. flutters are also called palpitations. There are multiple causes of palpitations (arrhythmias, structural heart problems, medications, recreational drug use, caffeine, stress, metabolic disorders)." If your fluttering heartbeat is being caused by anxiety or stress, worrying about this issue will likely exacerbate the fluttering, but this won't cause any damage. You'll find that during periods when you realize your heart was not fluttering, you were calm, cool and collected, and the issue was the furthest thing from your mind. Exercise is a great way to subdue general anxiety. Most often palpitations are not a concern and are a result of premature heartbeats. If your fluttering heart is accompanied by symptoms such as feeling like you're about to pass out, lightheadedness or chest pain, you should schedule an appointment with a cardiologist. here are some remedies:1. Reducing anxiety and stress. Common stress-reducing therapies include relaxation exercises, yoga 2.Avoiding certain foods, beverages, and substances. This may include alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, and illegal drugs. 3.Avoiding medications that act as stimulants. These include cough and cold medicines, and certain herbal and nutritional supplements. certain medicines like beta blockers are prescribed for palpitations, which your cardiologist may decide after evaluation. regards
