Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Medication Is Suggested For Bringing Down The BP Levels?
I have just had my BP take, the reading was 161/120. I work on the oil rigs, I've just came off nightshift. At the moment I'm on Ramipril 10mg been taking that for 5days now. Previous to that I was on the lower dose of 5mg. Will I ever manage to get my blood pressure down to a normal level. I don't smoke, I'm not over weight, don't drink exercises, I don't add salt to my meals, I'm 39, there's no history of heart disease in my family, when I'm home I'm active. One problem is I cant seem to relax any more. This is getting me down and worried.
Thanks for contacting HCM. Dear patient you need to relax. Ramipril 10 mg is not a very high dose. You need to exercise regularly especially cardio workouts, walking is best for you at this time. later when your BP is under control you can start jogging, swimming or other aerobic exercises. Please check that you are not eating high salt foods like pickles, salted salmons, Chinese food etc. Meditation can be of great help to you as you seems to worry a lot. You need to relax and participate in relaxing activities like reading, listening to music or transcendental meditation as stress can aggravate high BP. Also try to get good 7-9 hours sleep as lack of sleep can raise BP. Do you snore? If yes then you could be having sleep apnea which can lead to high BP. Regards
