What Medication Should Be Taken For Joint Tenderness With History Of Open Heart Surgery?
Hello, I am a heart patient who underwent open-heart surgery in 2005. I had a bicuspid aortic valve removed and also a large aortic aneurysm. I now have a mechanical aortic valve that has me on Coumadin for life. I enjoy going to my health club and working out, especially with weights and machines. I don t do anything strenuous necessarily, but I do have some joint tenderness (elbow and top of shoulder). My question is what can I take (other than acetaminophen) to help the soreness? I ve researched glucosamine and chondroitin and see it interacts with Coumadin. Is there a supplement, etc. that is okay to take with Coumadin? Thank you, Nathan
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. You had open heart surgery, and you are attending all the works you was attending. Having the pain of joints, elbow and top of the shoulder. I advise you to consult your cardiologist to exclude the cardiac involvement of the pain. If it only somatic pain, i usually prescribe to my patient with such symptoms neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, and then periodically and paracetamol when there is pain. Avoid taking potato, other tubers, tomato, egg, chicken, and sea foods. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
