What Medication To Take For Itching In Thighs, Genital Parts And Under Arms?

Dear Sir I am having itching in my inner thighs, genital parts, under arms since last 40 days, But now it has started on my buttocks also. intense itching at night time. I found no rashes, somewhere some red spots are there but itching is so intense at night that i can't able to sleep.

One of my family member was diagnosed with Scabies and doctor gave her permethrin. I surf on net and using permethrin since last 2 days and also I consumed 12 Mg of IVERMECTIN - ORAL last night. Itching has got reduce but still it is intense.

Kindly suggest some good medicine.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

I would keep a possibility of Scabies given that a close contact has had scabies and because of intense nocturnal itching.

Treatment of scabies is 'single whole body application of 5% permethrin' from neck downwards and keeping it overnight for 8 hours and bathing next day.

Since you have already applied permethrin (It is to be applied JUST ONCE ONLY on entire body) and also consumed Ivermectin, so there is no need for any more miticidal treatment. Itching resolves in a few days after treatment.

I would have advised you to use a topical steroid+antibiotic combination cream twice daily for a few days over the itchy spots.

An oral antihistamine like cetrizine once daily would help you with the itch part.

It is advisable to treat other family members too for scabies.

All the clothes, bed-sheets, towels, handkerchiefs should be washed/dry cleaned.
