What Medicine Can Help Get Rid Of The Cough With Clear Mucus Along With Tightness Of Lungs ?

I have taken meds intermittently for acid relux, now taking Prilosec and inhaler and prescription nasal spray for cough associated with allergies. Nothing is helping to get rid of cough which I've had for several months. I have very thin clear mucus that I can sometimes cough up, but my lungs feel tight and I'm not able to expel all the mucuous. Also very gassy and constantly expelling both ways. I feel like there is trapped gas and mucuous that is causing the tightness in my lungs and cough. Any suggestions?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

There are 3 common reasons for chronic or persistent cough. There are: (1) post nasal drip (2)gastroesophageal reflux disease (3) cough associated with asthma

Post nasal drip is the most common out of these. This is treated with a nasal spray , which you are currently using, and antihistamines. It may also be helpful to determine what provokes your drip , i.e what you are allergic to.
If you can determine the source of the allergies and therefore the drip then you may be able to halt the cough.

This can be done by allergy testing.

I hope this helps
