What Medicines Should Be Taken For Depression?

I have a family history of depression and I ve been struggling with it for 30 years. I was on Trazadone for several years but it stopped working. The past few years I used Celexa then Lexapro but stopped because of what I call brain zaps. After 2 years my symptoms have fully returned (anger, lack of energy, feeling empty) but my doctor hasn t found a medication that fits. Most have resulted in serotonin syndrome. Viibrid is the most recent which greatly helped the depression but the side effects at 20mg are concerning: Rapid heartbeat, increased blood pressure, swelling and stiffening joints especially in hands, and involuntary foot movement. Any medication suggestions?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

In your case, i would either suggest venlafaxine or paroxetine. Both these drugs are best in their groups and you would feel better after taking any of them. You have to consult your psychiatrist and discuss with him. Start from the basic minimum dose and see the response.

Thanks
