Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What might cause my husband to recently sweat a lot. He is 63 years old and has never been a big sweater. He has always been able to work out in the heat without problems. Today he came in from setting tree stands and was dripping wet. Should we be concerned?
There are various causes to sweating a lot including:
- oscillations in blood sugar (low blood sugar) - anemia - oscillations in blood pressure
I suggest to consult your physician and to run further tests: - measure his blood sugar level when he is sweating and fasting sugar and HbA1C - measure his blood pressure at that moment - do a complete blood profile to check for anemia - do an abdominal ultrasound to exclude abdominal problems (pancreas/liver) - run some biochemistry tests - check for the thyroid functions
in order to determine the right cause.
Meanwhile, I suggest to ask him to :
- have regular meals and eat healthy foods - drink more water
Hope it helped! Dr.Bardha
