What More First Aid Measures Have To Be Taken For A Person With Fatigue And Dizziness?

MY HUSBAND ALMOST CERTAINLY HAS HEAT STROKE AND IS REFUSING TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. HE WASNT FEELING WELL WHEN I PICKED HIM UP FROM WORK TODAY ABOUT 4:30 PM. AS WE CONTINUED TO TALK HE SAID HE WASNT FEELING WELL SO HE WENT TO SLEEP IN A COWORKERS CAR, NO AC, NO CRACKED WINDOWS, WE ARE IN ARIZONA, IT WAS 107. HE DID turn the AC on a couple times to cool the car, but turned it off for the periods of time he slept. IN A PAVED PARKING LOT, NO SHADE. HE FELL ASLEEP FOR 2 HOURS, STAGGERED OUT OF THE CAR WENT BACK INTO THE OFFICE DRANK ICED COFFEE. HE STILL DIDNT FEEL WELL, SO HE WENT BACK TO THAT CAR FOR ANOTHER 1/2 HOUR SAME CONDITIONS. I about fell over when I heard this and I was stunned, I immediately gave him my water bottle told him to drink the whole thing. When we arrived to my mothers house, I gave him vitamin water, a bottle of Gatorade, some food nd one 500mg Tylenol. I looked up his symptoms as at first I wasn’t sure since he seemed to be generally well. I felt like he at least might have heat exhaustion so wanted to know how to take care of it.....but he meets all the symptoms for both. He has nausea, he has felt awful, he is dizzy, light headed, weak, slurred speech, irritable, cramps in stomach. Leg cramps have come on this evening along with chills and I guess a hot flash. None of the symptoms has gone away. And he refuses to go anywhere or even let me dial 911. I looked up foods to give him to help.....I have some coconut water, I’ve given him more Gatorade, I gave him a banana for potassium, I put a dash of salt and a dash of sodium bicarbonate into the drink to help retain the water, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. He has just recently got very hot, and refused to get in the shower. I put an ice pack wrapped in a towel in his armpit and one on his head and gave him one more Tylenol. I really cannot do much more and he is simply the worst patient ever and his stubbornness is frustrating me. I’m watching him. But I cannot do anything more than what I am doing, I certainly cannot gauge any internal damage and don’t know what to look for. Please tell emu what more I can do, what more I should watch for, how many more first aid measures I can take if any? If anything, can you outline for him to read your reply what is happening to him and what type of medical attention he should get or at least what kind of testing he should get or something? I have told him he isn’t not going to work tomorrow and I have his bosses phone-number that I will call him out sick. Help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, he is probably having electrolyte imbalance.
Primary guidelines
- Give oral rehydration salt formula freshly prepared every half hourly.
- Prefer semi reclining position to rest.
- Deep breathing exercises will serve best.
- Watch for vitals in terms of pulse, blood pressure (by digital machine), urine output, consciousness level.

Consult your PCP as per the need.

I would like to admire your further doubts anytime.

Take care.
