What Must I Do About Delayed Periods After Taking Two Emergency Pills This Month Post Intercourse?
I had my last period on the 3rd Jan.I have a 25 day cycle with 4 days of bleeding.I had sex on the 13th and I had a pill within one hour and then on 15th of that month,I took a pill within one hour, just as a precaution.I started a light bleed from 20th to 25th Jan.The expected period date was 30th Jan of the month. But,I still have not got it.
Effectiveness of Plan B (Morning after pill) is about 90%, if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. This effectiveness, may be even more, if taken earlier than this. As you have already taken this pill 2 times within 72 hours, therefore, it should be effective, at least to the tune of 90%. Appearance of periods within 10 days of the pill, usually denotes, the successful action of the tablet.
As, you have not got your expected periods yet, it may be just due to normal side effect of Plan B pill. This pill can induce some irregularity in the periods including shortened or longer cycle as well as spotting or breakthrough bleeding. You may wait some more days for your regular periods. Alternatively, you can undertake an HPT to rule out or confirm the pregnancy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
