What Potential Problems Can Dilated Kidneys And Stomach In Fetus Cause?

Left dilated kidney in a fetus, also has polyhydramanios, and slightly dilated stomach what are potential causes. We are seeing a perinatologist today. What questions do I need to ask? Is this a genetic or chromosomal abnormality? What type of problems can we expect?

The left dilated kidney itself is not a genetic or chromosomal abnormality. It is extremely common and the majority (80%) do not require any intervention but the babywill need testing after birth to make sure that no operation is required. Even if the kidney ends up requiring an operation, tehre are no long term effects of the same.

The polyhydramnios has many causes, definitely not connected to the kidney issue but your perinatologist can explain the various causes for the same.
