What Precaution Should A Person Taking Care Of Staph Infected Person Should Take?

If someone ends up with staph infection MRSA after having surgery and a second person has been cleaning off the excessive drainage and keeping clean bandages on the surgical site, is there any infection, etc that the second person should be aware of?

HI,
Welcome to HCM.

Staphylococcus aureus usually causes localised infections of the skin like boils, furuncles, folliculitis and abscesses. Intact skin as such acts as a protective barrier and does not allow bacteria like staphylococcus to cause infection. But if your skin is compromised like insect bite, deep scratches then there is a chance of this bacteria to gain entry and cause infection. I would suggest you use gloves while dealing with dressings of the patient and try to avoid direct contact with the wound. Hand washing with a strong soap and use of antiseptic solution on the hands would suffice to prevent spread.
Thanks.
