What Precautions Can Be Taken To Avoid Infections Post Unprotected Sex?

HI I am on holiday with a group on a course. I had too much to drink and very little to eat that day and clearly my inhibitions were low, a man took me to bed and sex took place. In the morning I had absolutely only about 1% recollection of what had gone on, I just woke up to see my clothes strewn around the room on the floor. The man had just finished his weeks course and went home the next day. I am 56, he is 35. For the next day I was bleeding both from vagina and bottom. The next day I had a sort of clear yellow discharge all day long. Today I still have a little of the clear yellow discharge. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed and because I had had too much to drink I can t really put all the blame onto him, although he must have known that I was so out of it and I do feel that he really took advantage of the situation and of me. In the morning of the day after I did ask him if he had used a condom - he had not. I also asked if there was a chance that I could catch something from him - he said no. I had my tubes tied off years ago, so there is no way that I can get pregnant, not at my age anyway. What should I do??? I am not going to make a fuss or try to get him into trouble - I had too much to drink. (Although, because I don t really remember anything at all and was completely fuzzy all the next day, I wonder if I was drugged - this behaviour is just not my style)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Once you had unprotected sex.. there are few things you can do to prevent STD.
- Raise your own immunity by taking high protein , vitamin rich diet/ good personal hygiene, regular exercises, good sleep.
- Post exposure preventive treatments are available for known disease exposures, You can ask for it to your health care workers.
- Regular screening is advised for such cases. This does not avoid STD, but detect it earlier to facilitate timely treatment .
Thanks.
