What Precautions Need To Be Taken For Fractured Ribs?

So surfing 3 weeks ago I fractured 2 ribs. The doc was slow getting back because of the xrays. He could not see the fracture but the radiologist did. So I have been out of the h2o for 3 weeks, still a little sore (cannot sleep on my side but feel much better. Realistically how long should I be out ....read I want to go out now. I do gentle yoga ok. Is the real risk that I might bump/injury them again or is it that they just need to heal. If so how long....Thanks Kindly....Oh I am in excellent shape and I am 65 YRs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there. Thanks for writing to our team. Being your physician I have carefully gone through your case and I wanna add that u need to keep out for at least 6-8 more weeks for Ribs to heal up completely. As age advances the bones grow slowly i.e. new bone formation is very slow. It means that broken bones heal up slowly.
Add multivitamins and calcium tablets one daily for 3 months.
Hope it helped you today. Give us a feedback. Stay blessed and get well soon

Regards !
