What Precautions Should Be Taken Post Bitten By A Dog?

My 2 year old puppy just bit my hand during a fight with my older dog. My hand automatically went numb and a little swollen. I m gaining feeling but the area where his tooth dented my skin is now hard. What do I do? P.S. He barely broke skin, no bleeding at all just a constant soreness and limited mobility of my thumb (he bit near the wrist/palm area. The back of the hand as well as the palm was bit)

Hi,

First of all, clean and sanitize the wound area, apply topical antibiotic and bandage. If your dog had his shots (rabies) then it probably is nothing to worry about (also because skin was barely broken and there was no blood). But you still need to get your wound checked by an ER doctor and get a tetanus shot if you have not had your booster shot. The doctor will also examine you incase if there are any symptoms of rabies.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,
After taking anti rabies vaccination course, let the bitten area heal. Use some moisturizer ointments, it will help you.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
