What Precautions Should Be Taken When A Filling Comes Out Of Tooth?

My root canal was filled wit a tiny bit of cottn and covered with a bit of cement like substance. It came off and for two days I've had pain I have managed with ibuprofen. I've rinsed with saltwater and carefully bruised my teeth each time I eat. What can I do until I see my dentist in four days? Do I fill it with a piece of cotton?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Your tooth must have temporary filled with a little cotton plug beneath it. This type of filling is commonly done in a multi-sitting root canal treatment. There is nothing to be much concerned of.
Yes rinsing with saltwater and carefully brushing your teeth would help to keep that tooth clean. Now filling with a piece of cotton will not help because cotton allow passage of bacteria in to the tooth.

You could contact your dentist, if he could make an appointment to you earlier then four days.

Refer to your dentist
Hope this helps
