What Should I Do About Extreme Hand Numbness Related To Methamphetamine Use?

I am a meth user. Sometimes when I haven’t slept in like a day or so and finally go to sleep I will experience extreme numbness in my Hands. I have been thinking that it’s been neuropathy and I actually have an appointment in January to see a specialist. However it hasn’t happened in a while until last night in the middle of the night I woke up and my hands were none and they are still numb right now and I can’t even lay down without losing all of my feelings in my hand. Please help me and tell me what to do besides stop smoking meth already know that it’s in the process

Hello,

Meth abuse for a prolonged period causes damage to the nerves, neuropathy can also be caused by certain medications that have toxic effects on nerve, be cautious about what medicine you have been taking. Numbness of the hands is a sign of peripheral neuropathy causing damage of the peripheral nerves.

Chronic us of meth may cause Parkinson’s disease. You are advised to get clinically examined by a GP, you will need to get few blood tests, NCV test, motor test, biopsy along with imaging tests (CT, MRI, EEG) done to evaluate the severity of neuropathy that has affected you. You will be treated with vitamin B12 supplements, take food rich in vitamin B12.

Keep your blood sugar level at control to avoid worsening of the condition. Switch to healthy eating habit & healthy lifestyle. Get connected to a detox center that will successfully help you quit meth use. As you taper meth, your withdrawal symptoms will be well taken care of by the treating doctor and the health workers in the detox center.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
